Just Starting
Ages 4 to 6
Just stARTing is an introduction to representational drawing directed to the attention span and motor coordination of 4-1/2 to 6 year olds. The students are guided through a step-by-step drawing lesson of an object, animal, or character. The instruction also includes guidance about length, placement, distance between elements, and how the shapes interact with each other. Children master the ability to recognize the 5 Basic Elements of Shape and combine them to create a drawing. Media used includes: Marker, Chalk Pastel, Oil Pastel and Water Color. Ages 6 to 9
Basic Drawing is an introduction to representational drawing geared to the attention span and motor coordination of a 6-9 year old. Students quickly learn to recognize the elements of shape and are introduced to various choices of how to interpret the lesson in their own creative rendering of the subject and background. Media used includes: Marker, Chalk Pastel, Oil Pastel, Colored Pencil and Water Color. Basic Monart Drawing & Clay Combo Class also available.Intermediate Drawing
Ages 9 to 12 (teens welcome)
Students are provided the opportunity to begin to work more independently but also allowing for guided drawings for beginning students on an “as needed” basis. Students are introduced to creating more three dimensional and realistic art through the use of shading. perspective, and composition. As they begin mastering techniques and media, students will be encouraged to develop their own style and creative approach, with continued focus on visual training, planning and process. Media used includes: Pencil, Chalk Pastel, Oil Pastel, Markers, Colored Pencil, and Water Color. Drawing & Clay Combo Class also available.Drawing & Clay Combo Classes
All Ages
Our Drawing and Clay Combo classes are the best of both worlds! Each week we alternate between drawing and clay. Students gain drawing skills as well as exposure to the 3 dimensionality of Clay start to finish. Student will learn to manipulate the clay using basic hand building foundations including pinch pot, slab, and coils to create unique works of art. They experience the transformation of raw clay to its final stage being fired in the studio kiln.Other Offerings
