Welcome to Parker Monart!
I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember. In fact, I remember feeling that spark as early as pre-school. Art remained my focus until I earned my art degree from the Colorado Institute of Art. After my husband and I started our family, I focused on raising our 3 wonderful kids while freelancing as a graphic designer.
As an artist and a mom, I wanted to find a way to connect with kids that could be a spark for them like what I’d felt as a kid. I wanted to help them learn skills and confidence they could build on no matter what their age.
When a friend introduced me and my kids to a Monart school in the Denver area, I knew I had found exactly what I wanted to do. I trained with Monart founder Mona Brookes and, with the support of family and friends, opened Parker Monart in 2005. I’ve been thankful every day since for this opportunity to share art with the kids of Parker and our surrounding communities!
Just as we are taught how to combine basic phonetic rules to read, musical notes to play an instrument, and dance steps to dance, the Monart Method teaches the individual to draw using The Five Basic Elements of Shape. Once students recognize these elements, they are guided as to how they might combine them on paper so that their drawings represent what they see.
Students explore a wide range of subject matter, media, and artistic techniques so that students may continually develop their skills at their own pace.
